In order to establish an equitable manner of distributing funds to deserving riders, a system of Grants is proposed. Applicant Criteria: • Applicant must be a VADAF member in good standing (i.e. dues paid, active VADAF show participant, active volunteer). • The applicant must personally fill out an application stating the reasons for wanting this Grant. • The applicant must submit a letter of recommendation from a person (other than immediate family) that knows the applicant well. • The application and recommendation shall be sent to the VADAF Secretary, whose name and address can be found on the VADAF web site: www.vadaf.org. • The application must be read at a meeting, by the Secretary, and voted upon by the Board of Directors. If the Grant is needed for a specific event, then the application must be presented before that event. Grants are not retroactive, and shall not be used to pay for past expenses. If the application is not presented in a timely manner, or if there is no quorum to vote on it, then the application shall be denied. • Grants will be used by applicants to further their Dressage education and goals. If the applicant fails to participate in the event which has been approved, then the applicant is bound to return the Grant monies. Grants are not transferable. • There will be only one Grant given to any individual applicant within a calendar year, from date of any previous Grant. • The applicant shall write an article for the newsletter about the experience she had because of the Grant. • The application shall be denied if ALL the criteria (above) are not met. Grant Specifics: • Grants can be awarded in increments of $25.00, to a maximum of $100, per individual, per year, and need not necessarily be the entire amount asked for by the applicant, or may be more, if deemed appropriate, by the Board. • VADAF can award Grants up to a total of $500 dispensed, per year (September to September). • Any Grant money not awarded in a particular year shall be returned to the general fund. • A Grant shall be awarded solely on the basis of the application, recommendation, fulfillment of the above criteria, and vote of the Board. However, there shall be no discrimination by race, sex, age, ability or disability. • Grant Criteria and Grant Specifics can only be changed, by the Board, at the September meeting. |
